I am one of the 60 Italian Euro-geologists.
Born and raised in Bergamo, the rest is a life in a suitcase. As a child, I collected stones while contemplating nature; I aspired to be a researcher to save lives, but my internal compass inevitably guided me back to geology. Ornamental stones became my unwavering focus.
For Mapei, I work on paving the future with stone roads.
For UNI, I coordinate the regulatory panel dedicated to stones in construction.
For the Accademia di Scienze Lettere ed Arti di Bergamo and the Italian Association of Geology and Tourism, I create study and outreach projects to narrate the endless stories and colors of the geological soul of cities to both adults and children.
My research is ever-evolving and continuously devoted to exploring the evocative power of stones, ranging from scientific and technical applications to cultural, social, and imaginative aspects, always with the same wonderment of the child who collected stones.
Writing is another passion of mine.
Beyond scientific and popular publications, I recently collaborated with Taschen as a co-author for the volume Entryways of Milan (2017). I authored Lost Oceans, Shifting Sands, Meandering Rivers, Dormant Volcanos, published by the Accademia di Scienze Lettere e Arti di Bergamo (2019, 2020 English edition), and in 2023, alongside Andrea Angheben, published the volume PORPHYRY – Technical Guide of a Noble Stone, aimed at planners, technicians, and administrators involved with open spaces and landscapes, available in English and published by Italporphyry/Consorzio Italiano Porfido del Trentino.
As of 2024, I am honored to serve as a NAHR ambassador.
